Project Details:

The project required soil and groundwater remediation at the former Chevron tank storage yard, immediately adjacent to Puget Sound. The cleanup required in-place treatment of petroleum contaminated soil by mixing 67,000 pounds of chemical oxidant (RegenOxTM ) and oxygen-release compound (ORCTM) into the contaminated zone. For more information on the in-place mixing that occurred at this site please follow this link: Case and Point. In addition, crews established site controls, rehabilitated a failing concrete storm sewer by installing HDPE pipe using a trenchless pipe bursting technique, and excavated over 1,600 tons of contaminated soil. Existing contaminated bulkheads and concrete slabs were excavated, demolished and disposed of offsite. Site backfill, grading, and restoration was accomplished and the project was deemed substantially complete by the City of Bremerton an impressive 10 weeks before the deadline.
