Darrington District Emergency Repairs, Phase 1

Project Details:

This two season project repaired 17 locations where storm damage had compromised, or obliterated National Forest roads.  The work included contractor surveying, quality control and turbidity monitoring and reporting while completing all phases of work.  Temporary stream diversions were constructed within controlled fish windows to limit impacts on aquatic life.  Removal and replacement of damaged culverts took place on culverts ranging in size from 18" to 108" in diameter.  Crews performed 7,000 CY of roadway excavation, imported gravel borrow, and installed various classes of rip rap armoring then stabilized the sites with mulch and hydroseeding.  Stream bank mitigation including placement of root wads and engineered containment.
