This project entailed constructing the grade for a new Third Main Track approximately 5 miles long through downtown Auburn.  Work consisted of placing 60,000 TN of gravel borrow and 38,000 TN of subballast.  Two soldier pile walls were constructed with concrete lagging.  One wall spanned 235 LF while the other spanned 4,700 LF.  An UltraBlock wall was also constructed spanning 1,500 LF.  600 LF of existing temporary railroad platform at the train station was demolished and the area graded for the placement of the new rail.  10,000 LF of communication conduit was installed at various locations along the project.  Four railroad crossing intersections were upgraded to incorporate the new third rail which included installing new culverts, providing culvert extensions, constructing new curb and sidewalks, and placing new asphalt pavement.
